DIY or Call Us?

An owner can safely check whether the problem is the bracket or the post. Close the gate and sight along the top rail; if it’s level but the post leans, the footing is the issue. You can also verify bolt tightness with a socket set, though don’t over-torque and strip the threads.

Where DIY goes wrong is assuming a hardware-store welder and a 110-volt machine will penetrate 11-gauge steel with the gate still hung. It won’t. The weld looks fine and fails in six weeks. Cutting a gate down to transport it to a shop costs more than mobile service.
